HOW OUR CALL TO CHURCH PLANT LEAD US TO PITTSBURGH
Lead Pastor, Will Cole, and his wife Eryn knew since the moment they met that God was going to use them to share the hope and purpose of Jesus with the world. It was just a matter of where and when and having complete trust in God. It wasn't long after that Jesus called them to Anchorage, Alaska. There they discovered their love for local church and the power of church planting. However, it wasn't their time to plant a church, YET.
In Texas, while Will was pursuing a Master of Divinity, God began to stir their hearts. He created a longing that could no longer be ignored. It was time for them to put their “yes” on the table and pursue God’s call on their lives once again, wherever he may lead. That just happened to be back to South Carolina, their home state, for a short season.
While in South Carolina, Will and Eryn were loved, developed, and prepared to plant a new church through a two-year residency at Cornerstone Baptist Church, their sending church. They began to dream, “What if we went where churches were needed most?” They went to Boston, Detroit, Minneapolis, and finally, Pittsburgh. From the moment they arrived in Pittsburgh, they were convinced that this city was where God had called them to plant a new, multiplying church and share hope.
Why Pittsburgh? Doesn’t Pittsburgh have plenty of churches already? Sure! But they believe God wants to create a church with a multiplying DNA. They believe God wants a church in Pittsburgh that prioritizes multiplication and sending. They aren’t here to plant one church! No. They are here to see a movement of church planting until a church is planted in every township in the North Hills and beyond, for the glory of God! Because he wants it and deserves it.
Our vision is humbly dependent, God-sized, and powerful!
New Horizon exists to invite all people to trust in Jesus as the hope and purpose of their lives!
If one church came together, united around one person—Jesus—and that one church united around His Mission—to make disciples—, we believe God will saturate the city of Pittsburgh with multiplying churches, making a life giving, gospel community available to every person in our city. Eryn and Will, along with Samuel, Katheryn, and Oliver are here to stay, praying and working toward this end: a church in every township.
OUR STRATEGY
To saturate the North Hills with gospel communities by IDENTIFYING PEOPLE, RAISING UP DISCIPLES, and SENDING OUT disciple makers who will START NEW GOSPEL COMMUNITIES and plant new churches!
